Images above are from a scalloping trip with friends to
Homassassa and Cedar Key, Florida a few months back. We took a charter
boat out with Capt. Frank, where he navigated us about less than a mile
out into the gulf where the seaweed flats stretched on for what seemed
like forever. With snorkels and goggles in tow, we free dived in about
6-10 feet of water for four hours to collect two five-gallon buckets of
live snappy scallops. Luckily the fellas back at the dock shucked our
buckets for a mere $20 and a few hours later we had ourselves a couple
plates of deliciousness. An amazing trip in a very unique fishing
village full of stray cats, awesome locals and a few haunted Rosewood
tales. I highly recommend a visit and be sure to stay at the Harbour
Master Suites, top floor in the Sea Pearl - make sure you read the
entire guest book entries.... very entertaining. Stay away from that
Gator Brew, be sure to rent a golf cart, go exploring and try not to pet
the kitties, they are not very nice.
